A group of queer friends express themselves by embodying and re-interpreting anime characters.
And They Saved My Sorry Ass is a feature-length documentary/personal essay film about queer anime lovers (including the filmmaker) based both in the US and in China. Experimental methods, such as staged performance, first-person narration and abstract imaging will be explored in addition to conventional interviews. This film is expected to be completed by spring 2023.
